About Me

My name is Mariah Carrillo; I’m a mixed media artist living and working in the desert southwest of Albuquerque, New Mexico. My work integrates a variety of techniques including drawing, collage, printmaking, and acrylics.

I’m interested in exploring the wonder and mystery of ordinary things. I’ve always had a wide streak of animism and experience the world around me as an ecology of people - human and nonhuman alike.

I’m drawn to old things with stories displaced in time and overlooked spaces that exist in the margins of daily life. I work with found materials as the foundation for pieces that act as meditations on the relationships we build with the world around us.
